Capítulo 4 Stay Strong

𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝑷𝒂𝒄𝒌

Benjamin stepped aside to let Claire emerge from behind his back, but before letting her go, he held onto her for a few seconds. He placed his hand on the back of Claire's neck, locking eyes with her as he tried to make her feel everything he felt. He transmitted peace and serenity, promises of love and a future together.

"Stay strong, sweetheart."

Claire's eyes revealed how much fear she felt, and Benjamin wanted to become violent, but he didn't want her to fear him. However, everyone involved in this would die.

Olivier watched from the shadows; the bullets wouldn't kill the wolves, but they would injure them enough to make recovery difficult, but that wasn't what he was after. His mission was to drive the alpha to suicide because he knew that if he lost the human, he wouldn't go on.

Leaving his mate had been excruciatingly difficult. Watching them drag her away with no delicacy

whatsoever had torn his soul apart, and when she cried, he knew the hunt would be violent. She didn't do it in front of him, no. His mate let panic take hold when the car doors closed, and he loved her for wanting to protect him.

Benjamin was in his office, trying to trace the car, but it had been futile. Now she was suffering, and he couldn't help her. While organizing a new group with his best trackers, one of his men came in with a box.

The scent of blood made him hurry to open it. It was from her, from his mate.

He stared at the box for a few moments, fearing what he would find inside. Upon opening it, he discovered a bloodied cloth and a note that made it clear they would show no mercy.

𝚆𝚎 𝚑𝚊𝚟𝚎 𝚑𝚎𝚛. 𝚂𝚑𝚎'𝚜 𝚜𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚗𝚐, 𝚊𝚗𝚍 𝙸 𝚊𝚌𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠𝚕𝚎𝚍𝚐𝚎 𝚝𝚑𝚊𝚝,

𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚋𝚎𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚊𝚋𝚕𝚎 𝚝𝚘 𝚑𝚎𝚕𝚙 𝚑𝚎𝚛.

Benjamin began to roar, his men frightened by the Alpha's fury and pain rushed to his office. Kieran, who was with his friend, trying to figure out a way to help, stared in astonishment at the piece of fabric.

The person who had written the note knew that the captive young woman was Benjamin's Luna, so who would be foolish enough to attack one of the country's strongest Alphas in this way?

Jako, one of those who entered after hearing him roar, was his beta and Alina's mate.

"Benjamin."

"They've made contact, they're torturing her, and I'm not there to save her," Benjamin said, handing over the blood-soaked cloth.

"Our trackers will use the essence on this fabric; we will find her, Benja. We're bringing Drew and Mikhail."

"The best, I know, but we're talking about my mate."

"Benja, you know that Hunter, Kieran's bear, is good. We are many, and we will reach her."

"It's not that I don't trust that we will reach her. It's just that... if she dies, I won't go on."

Jako, Mikhail, and Drew looked at him with concern, but Kieran understood. If something happened to Nessa – and she wasn't even his mate – Kieran didn't know if he could go on.

For several minutes, which felt like an eternity, no one spoke. They didn't dare because Benjamin was beyond fury, and they had never seen him like this. When the former Alpha died, Benjamin didn't have a mourning period. He worked hard and took charge of the pack while they were still grieving their losses.

However, that day, hatred corrupted one of the calmest leaders they knew, and it frightened them.

Because the pack was murmuring, Benjamin was becoming a feared Alpha among his own. Of those present, only one stepped forward, and as his beta, Jako spoke, expressing the feelings of all.

"Benjamin, you are our Alpha. We need you."

"My sister and you are more than capable of leading this pack. If my mate dies, there will be no point in continuing here. I won't discuss it further; you need to prepare to leave because I'm not dead, I'm still in charge, and I don't have the patience to answer questions or calm you."

"Yes, Alpha Black."

A part of Benja wanted to apologize to the one who was not only his beta but also family, Alina's mate. However, what he felt due to his mate went beyond rationality. Because she could die, plain and simple, and he wasn't there to protect her.

The wolves left Benjamin's house and organized themselves to go out. They were worried about the future of their Alpha and the pack.

"I fear what will happen; I've never seen Benja like this."

"Well, we'd better find her alive then," Drew added.

The enforcer arrived, knowing he had a very deep relationship with Benjamin. They understood how furious he was, as they felt the same way, but they were concerned about what their Alpha might do if she didn't survive.

"We have the humans who participated in the attack."

"How did you find them, Nico?"

"A group of humans tipped us off. They saw them hiding in an old warehouse."

"Are they trying to hide from us, the wolves? Besides being bad, they're stupid."

"It seems they believe that after a few days, their scent will dissipate. They were promised money and the opportunity to leave the city. We've interrogated them, and they don't know anything. We're transporting them for execution."

"One less worry then. Let's go."

Benja joined the search and rescue group. He was tense and so angry that not even those who were more

than warriors, those who were like his brothers, dared to speak to him. They set out in two vehicles, not wanting to attract too much human attention.

They arrived at the warehouse, where they picked up the scent of the young woman and followed it to a house on the outskirts of the city. They detected a wide variety of scents, but only one reached him.

Pain.
